Complaint: What to do if I get the wrong books?

Answer:

If you have received wrong or irrelevant printed study material, you can request correction and replacement from IGNOU’s Material Production & Distribution Division (MPDD) or your Regional Centre.

👉 Here’s what to do:

Step 1: Identify the Problem Clearly

  • Check your admitted program and subjects (from Student Dashboard or ID card).
  • Compare with the books received – note which books are incorrect or missing.

Step 2: Write an Email to MPDD

📧 Email to: mpdd@ignou.ac.in

Subject: Wrong Study Material Received – Request for Replacement

Mention the following in the email:

  • Full Name
  • Enrollment Number
  • Program Code (e.g., BAG, MPS)
  • Regional Centre & Study Centre Code
  • Session (e.g., July 2024)
  • List of wrongly received books
  • List of expected/correct books
  • Clear photos (optional) of the wrong books received
  • Full postal address with PIN code & contact number

Step 3: Copy the Email to Your Regional Centre

Send the same email to your Regional Centre’s email ID (RC email directory available on http://ignou.ac.in/).

Step 4: Raise Grievance (If No Response in 7 Days)

File a complaint at the official portal:

Choose category: Study Material → Wrong Book Received

📌 Note:

  • IGNOU usually resends the correct books by post within 4–6 weeks of complaint acceptance.
  • If material is out of stock, you may be asked to use eGyankosh in the meantime.
