13. Degree Certificate / Convocation

2. I haven’t received my degree certificate yet.

Complaint: I haven’t received my degree certificate yet.

Answer:

If you haven’t received your IGNOU degree certificate, it usually means that either the certificate has not been dispatched or there is a delay in processing.

📌 Reasons for Delay

  1. Programme Completion Not Updated – All assignments, projects, and exams must be evaluated and cleared.
  2. Degree Application Not Submitted – Students must apply for the degree through the IGNOU portal.
  3. Convocation Pending – Certificates are usually issued after convocation, unless requested separately.
  4. Postal / Delivery Delay – Physical dispatch may take several weeks depending on location.
  5. Incorrect Address – Certificate may not reach you if the address in the portal is outdated or incorrect.

📌 Steps to Receive Your Degree Certificate

  1. Check Degree Status Online
    • Visit the IGNOU Student Zone → Award Status.
    • Verify if your degree is marked “Ready for Dispatch”.
  2. Ensure Degree Application Submitted
    • Apply online for the degree certificate if not done earlier.
  3. Verify Address Details
    • Ensure your postal address is updated in the portal.
  4. Contact Your Regional Centre (RC)
    • Provide: Name, Enrollment Number, Programme, Session, and Application Receipt.
    • RC can confirm dispatch status or reissue a duplicate certificate if required.
  5. Email IGNOU HQ if Needed
    • Email: helpdesk@ignou.ac.in with all relevant details and proof of completion.

📌 Important Notes

  • Certificates usually take 1–3 months after programme completion to dispatch.
  • Keep all receipts, hall tickets, and assignment submission proofs
  • If you move to a new address, request address change at RC before certificate dispatch.

👉 Tip: If urgent, you can request a duplicate degree certificate through RC after verifying completion.
