5. Delay in dispatch
β Complaint: Delay in dispatch from MPDD (Material Production & Distribution Division).
β Answer:
Delays in dispatching printed study material from MPDD are common, especially during peak admission periods. IGNOU dispatches material in batches based on program, regional location, and availability of stock.
π Hereβs how to deal with the delay:
β Step 1: Check Dispatch Status Online
Go to the official IGNOU Book Dispatch Status portal:
π http://sedservices.ignou.ac.in/BookStatus/
- Enter your Enrollment Number and Program Code
- Youβll see:
- Dispatch date
- Courier partner (usually India Post)
- Tracking/AWB number
If it says βData not foundβ, your material has not been dispatched yet.
β Step 2: Wait 6β8 Weeks After Admission Confirmation
Generally, IGNOU starts dispatching books within 6β8 weeks of admission confirmation. However, delays of 10β12 weeks are common in remote areas or for less common programs.
β Step 3: Email MPDD If Delay Is Excessive (After 2+ Months)
Send an email to: π§ mpdd@ignou.ac.in
Subject: Study Material Not Received β Request for Status Update
Include:
- Full Name
- Enrollment Number
- Program Code
- Regional Centre
- Session (e.g., July 2024)
- Full Postal Address with PIN code
- Contact number
You may also attach a screenshot of the dispatch status page.
β Step 4: Raise Grievance If No Response
Use the official grievance portal:
π http://igram.ignou.ac.in/
