✅ Answer:

If your IGNOU student portal account is locked, it usually happens due to:

  1. Multiple Incorrect Login Attempts – Repeatedly entering the wrong password.
  2. Inactive Account – If re-registration or admission verification is pending.
  3. Security Reasons – Suspicious activity detected by IGNOU portal.

📌 Steps to Unlock Your Account

  1. Use “Forgot Password” Option
    • Go to IGNOU Student Portal Login 👉 https://webservices.ignou.ac.in/StudentPortal/
    • Click “Forgot Password” and follow the steps to reset your password.
  2. Verify via Registered Email / Mobile
    • You will receive an OTP or reset link on your registered email or mobile number.
    • Complete the verification to unlock the account.
  3. Contact Regional Centre (RC) if Needed
    • If password reset fails, email or visit your RC.
    • Provide: Name, Enrollment Number, Programme, DOB.
    • RC can manually unlock your account after verification.
  4. Avoid Repeated Failed Attempts
    • After unlocking, always enter correct login credentials to prevent locking again.

📌 Important Notes

  • Account remains locked usually for 24 hours after multiple wrong attempts before requiring reset.
  • Keep your credentials and registered email/mobile active to quickly recover your account.
  • Always update email/mobile in portal to avoid recovery issues in the future.

👉 Tip: After unlocking, note down your password securely or use a password manager to prevent repeated account lockouts.
